Sony Unveils Android SmartWatch 2

The Japanese electronics company Sony unveiled the Smart Watch 2, a wrist-worn technology device powered by Google's Android operating system. It's more than a watch, it's smartwatch. This Android-based watch as per Sony works like a second screen for our primary Android phones and should be compatible with most of the Android smartphones around.

It sports a 1.6-inch 176x220 display resolution and it's got a new and better user interface looks and design. The watch also bears IP57 certification that makes it dust and water resistant plus it features Near-field Communication or NFC technology which allows for one-touch pairing.

Sony said they have over 200 unique apps that are exclusively created for the SmartWatch boasting over a million downloads to date. The electronics giant also added "Competitors are only now launching first-generation devices, while we are already launching a third-generation device with all the insight gained from over a half a million customers combined with Sony's wealth of technology expertise to create the best-ever smart watch experience."

Since the Sony SmartWatch 2 is an Android device and an extension screen for smartphones, it can be integrated with social network apps such as Facebook and Twitter. SW2 will be released in September of this year but the price is still to be announced.
