Cherry Mobile Unveils Omega XL and Omega HD 2X Smartphones

Cherry Mobile has officially unveiled not just one but two Android smartphones using their Facebook page. Introducing Omega XL and Omega HD 2X. These devices fall under phablet category as the Omega XL and Omega HD 2X feature 6-inch and 5.7-inch displays respectively, but it is the HD 2X that offers the highest technical specs of the two. As the name implies, the Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2X sports a 5.7" full HD display with a total screen resolution of 1920x1080p which equals to 386ppi. As also expected of the current smartphone trending, the HD display-equipped Android device is powered by a 1.5GHz MTK6589T quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. One other thing I like so much about this one is, internally, it comes with a huge 32GB storage. Right out of the box man!. If my memory serves me right, that is the biggest internal storage available right away in any of the local-branded smartphones available around.

The cameras here are not low-pegged ones as the primary cam has 18MP with LED flash, although the specs of the HD 2X are not formally announced yet, I am thinking here that its cameras will also sport BSI and autofocus technology but we really cannot say so until the device is fully released in the local market. The front camera is pegged at 8 megapixels. Android Jellybean 4.2 runs on the phone.

When is the Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2X going to be available? According to the company's Facebook page, it is "very soon". But it's definitely in time for holiday season, before December comes perhaps. And what about the price? It was also not included in the announcement, however as per leaked image which shows the HD 2X on what appears to be an official Cherry Mobile pamphlet last month, it's going to be for Php12,399. Not bad right? The battery? We have to wait for that one as of yet.

The other device is the Cherry Mobile Omega XL, unlike the HD 2X this XL is already available for purchase at any Cherry Mobile stores and dealers for a price of Php7,999. What do you get out of that asking price? It's a little bigger screen, 6-inch qHD display with 960x540 pixel resolution, 183ppi. Like what I said above, this Omega XL has lower specs than the Omega HD 2X. Under its chassis are 1.2GHz MTK6582 quad-core processor, with Mali-400 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The internal storage is way too far from the other device, 4GB but definitely can be expanded. You will also get a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front facing camera. It is also powered by Android Jellybean 4.2. Battery is not much of a disappointment here as it comes in 2,450mAh size. Take note as well that this is a dual-sim dual-standby smartphone. Again, it is for only Php7,999 and is now available.
