Microsoft Rebrands SkyDrive to OneDrive with Referral Program

Microsoft has formally rebranded its cloud storage service from SkyDrive to OneDrive and that starts today. SkyDrive app for Windows 8, Windows Vista and Mac apps alongside its mobile and  Xbox versions will automatically be upgraded to the new name. This rebrand is with a twist that many will surely like. Aside from the default and free 7GB storage space upon signing up, users can now refer friends and get additional bonus space up to 5GB.

When users refer friends and sign up, they will get additional free 500MB per every successful referral and they can refer up to 10 friends which makes it 5GB in total. Each of their friends will also get additional 500MB once account is activated. Not only that, users can also earn free 3GB more storage when they activate the camera backup feature on their Windows Phone, iOS or Android smartphones. Auto-backup feature supports both photos and videos. And if those are still not enough for users, they can still get more space through their monthly paid plans which offer 50GB, 100GB and 200GB.
