Much of the details about these new laptops were not fully revealed but some important ones were unveiled such as both devices will sport an HD display, 32GB of eMMC flash memory, 2GB of RAM along with Intel Celeron processors. The exact pixel counts for resolution was not mentioned aside from being HD, but for laptops normally an HD display falls around 1366x768 resolution. Plus these two are fanless laptops, thanks to the low-voltage processors, which should make them noise-less when being used.
Since the HP Stream 11.6 and Stream 13.3 are powered by Windows 8.1 OS, Microsoft is giving users 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage for one year as well as Office 365 Personal edition for the same length of time. Not only that, there is also a $25 gift card that will come right out of the boxes of these Stream laptops which can be used on Windows Store.
Orchid Magenta and Horizon Blue will be the only two color selections for the devices and the usual ports are with them such as the USB 2.0 and 3.0, HDMI, audio jack and SD card reader. WiFi connectivity is also part of the party. The 13.3 model will have versions capable of 4G connectivity and HP is giving 200MB worth of free data every month for a year without even signing for a contract from a carrier.
So how big are the batteries? It was actually not disclosed but according to HP the 11.6 one should last about 8 hours and 15 minutes when playing an HD video on a single charge and the 13.3 for about 7 hours and 45 minutes under the same condition.
These new HP Stream laptops sound to offer a very nice deal especially for those budget conscious consumers who wish to experience Windows 8 OS at a very affordable price, I just hope to see these laptops at our local tech shelves and get one someday.
