MyPhone is ever expanding the Rio smartphone series with the introduction of the new member of the family sporting the biggest display size ever, the MyPhone Rio Grande has finally been launched with a price tag that still under Php5k. I really like how they named this particular Rio device attaching the Grande to it makes it easier to remember that this is the biggest of the seven Rio smartphones on the market from this local electronics giant.
The MyPhone Rio Grande is massive in size but the specs are not that surprising since it is priced for only Php4,499 which is still more affordable than the first and original Rio currently at Php4,999. There are likeable and less likeable things on this new Rio Grande especially looking at the revealed specs. So far MyPhone has released very limited details about the device, so as of writing it is known that the Rio Grande offers 5.5" display with 854x480 resolution, an unnamed quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, a now-too-small-for-many-users 512MB of RAM and an internal storage of 4GB.
Good thing is the Rio Grande still supports micoSD card up to 32GB for additional memory and it now runs Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, I like that. I like big displays it's just that the resolution on this one is not that likeable and the front camera is only a VGA one. If there is one big advantage this Rio Grande has over other Rio devices or even other Android smartphone under the same price category, that would be its battery size which is sporting a 2,800mAh size and I like that alot. The original Rio has only 2,000mAh. So good job on that one.
I really would like to see the actual MyPhone Rio Grande and check how it looks and performs in person and maybe I could find more likeable features on the smartphone. It was officially launched today with a 1-day sale event held at SM North EDSA branch this afternoon asking new buyers to pay only Php3,999 and looking at the MyPhone Facebook page, it looks like a very successful event. But starting tomorrow, the original price for the Rio Grande would be back at Php4,499.

If this trend of getting new Rio smartphones from MyPhone continues, I think by next year we will get even more Rio devices and hopefully they are more upgraded than the ones we already got this year. If a new Rio and flagship device will be out by next year by MyPhone and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, I will definitely buy one. What do you think guys? : )
