Xiaomi's first Redmi 1S smartphone has been a success since it was first released in China and followed by international markets. So successful that the Chinese company updated its specs with the announcement of the new Redmi 2 which will go on sale in China this January 9 for 699 CNY or about Php5,055 when converted to our currency.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 now sports a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor which entails a 4G LTE support backed up by 1GB of RAM. The display size and screen resolution remain the same as well as the rear camera configuration. The front facing shooter, however was upgraded to 2MP resolution and the battery pack now has 2,200mAh from 2,000mAh. The rest of the specs remains the same, see them below.

No word yet as to when the Redmi 2 will be available in the Philippines, but just like previous smartphones from the company it is most likely that the new affordable smartphone will also be released in the country sometime this year.
