VAIO Announces Its First Smartphone Offering

VAIO just unveiled their very first Android smartphone offering and simply called it VAIO Phone.  You may be wondering, is VAIO brand under Sony? If yes, then why the device is dubbed VAIO's first smartphone? Well Sony has sold its laptop business which then led to the formation of the VAIO Corporation which is now stand alone company.

The smartphone falls under mid-range category but still with specs very attractive to budget-conscious users, though the official pricing is not revealed yet, hopefully the asking price will be more attractive.

Some of the things I like about the device is that, it is already powered by the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop mobile OS, LTE-equipped, 13MP rear camera and 2GB of RAM. Even the battery is a bit bigger at 2,500mAh. Right now the Vaio smartphone will be available only in Japan and looks like it will stay there yet. If the device will make its way to the Philippines, we will know for sure.

VAIO Phone specs:

- 5" HD IPS display
- 1.2GHz quad-core processor
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage
- Supports microSD card up to 64GB
- 13MP rear camera
- 5MP front camera
- Android 5.0 Lollipop
- WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS
- LTE
- 71.3 x 141.5 x 7.95mm
- 130 grams
- 2,500mAh battery
