A report on Reuters claims that the Canadian company Blackberry is going to release its first Android smartphone according to the media's two sources. Blackberry was one of the leading companies in terms of cellphone sales globally even when they started releasing smartphones of their own powered by Blackberry-created OS. However, market dominance and sales started to slope down when iOS and Android smartphone entered the smart device race. Now in an attempt to regain its glory Blackberry is entering the Android world of smart devices, if the rumor is true. Is this going to be a real deal that we will very soon see Android-powered smartphones from Blackberry?
Blackberry's own mobile operating software is no doubt one of the secure and most reliable platforms we can use whether it's for personal or business use. However, due to lack or very small amount of developers creating apps for Blackberry, the Waterloo based giant struggled to keep its success and fame. Latest smartphones running on the current Blackberry 10 OS are already supporting Android apps it's just that they can't download them directly from Google Play.
If this is real, then I think it is going to be success for the company provided that they will product very competitive Android smartphones with prices that are not going to hurt users' pockets. Latest smartphones especially in the Philippines either from local or international brands are already adapting the more-power-less-price strategy, and that's something found to be successful. We can ask the likes of Xiaomi, Meizu, Alcatel or even the local companies like Cherry Mobile and MyPhone.
If the report is real, then we will see the first wave of Blackberry-made Android smartphones before the year ends.
