Alleged Photo of First Android-Powered Blackberry Smartphone Leaked

It was last month when I first heard rumors about Blackberry is planning to release their own version of a full-fledged Android smartphone. Since then more and more speculations have started to pile up, like the specs and the first network in the US the device will debut and then today, an image leaked online claiming to be the upcoming and first Blackberry-made Android smartphone. See it below.

This photo was tweeted by a notorious tipster by the Twitter handle @Evleaks also known as Evan Blass. One of Evleaks' tweets about this handset says "The Android-powered BlackBerry Venice slider is AT&T-bound". Now if this is real and to be believed then the very first Android phone from the Canadian company will be officially called Blackberry Venice and will first head to an American telecommunications network called AT&T, atleast.

Some unconfirmed reports say that the Blackberry Venice is expected to be released or announced at least later this year. Additionally, according to some reports, the smartphone is said to be sporting a 5.4-inch Quad HD display with physical full qwerty keyboard as seen in the photo above and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor.

Taking a closer look at the leaked photo above, we can spot very familiar buttons the upside down triangle, circle and square buttons just right above the physical keyboard which are related and seen on most Android Lollipop smartphones around. I am not that familiar with Blackberry keys and buttons but I think this is the first time I have seen those buttons in a Blackberry device.

What do you think of this leak? Do you think Blackberry will be able to rise again if they will eventually adopt the Android platform for their future smartphones? Even though Android is already a crowded software?
