ZTE is probably one of the company names we actually cannot associate right away with a smartphone unlike Apple, Samsung and Nokia. But the China-based electronics company would like to change that starting with this brand new smartphone from their portfolio. It's been rumored numerous times until it just became officially announced, ZTE now launching the Axon smartphone, at least in the US.
The ZTE Axon sports some pretty powerful specs and can actually compete head to head with many of the flagship devices of today from well known and big companies in the field, at least in paper. Those technical offerings still have to put to the test to see how exact they perform in the real world. But yeah, it's a very nice phone to have.
One of the exciting things about this Axon, which I want to know how it exactly works, is the dual-lens functionality in the rear panel. I think this is a first in a smartphone, on the back sits two shooters one in 13MP and another in 2MP. Why two cameras? I don't know yet but many say its for 3D effects. Then a front-facing lens with 8MP resolution.
Right out of the box, the Axon will be powered by a Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2.0GHZ, unlike most Chinese smartphones and local ones, ZTE opted for a Snapdragon chip instead of MediaTek.
Also for music lovers or audiophiles, ZTE would like you to know that their new smartphone comes equipped with a feature they call "Hi-Fi Audio Playback and Recording". The whole package won't be complete without knowing what particular Android OS this Axon is running on, and that's going to be an Android 5.1 Lollipop with ZTE's own UI on top.
I almost forgot, the screen sports a quite big 5.5-inch with a Quad HD resolution or about 2560 x 1440 pixel arrangement. The screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layering. With the eight-core processor, a whopping 4GB of RAM is partnered to make sure that multitasking needs are all covered smoothly and without delay. Internal storage, users will have a 32GB default memory, unfortunately microSD card seems to be nowhere to be found here.
