The local tech giant Cherry Mobile has just partnered again with Intel Philippines as it just officially unveiled new product lineup under MAIA series sporting Intel-based processors, one smartphone and two tablets. Of the three which I am very interested in is the Smart Tab that offers dual-boot technology or Smart Boot as the company calls it. This simply means that this Cherry Mobile MAIA Smart Tab runs both on Android 4.4 Kitkat and Windows 8.1 operating systems and users can easily switch between these platforms with just a use of a button. Take note, it's Windows 8.1 and not the Windows Phone 8.1. And most attractive of all? Price tag and that is only for Php4,999.
If I remember it right, this is a first type of device that comes from a local company like Cherry Mobile. After I became aware of this device, I immediately checked the specs and the price and I was actually surprised to know that the MAIA Smart Tab offers pretty impressive set of specs for its asking price.
Right off the bat users will get an 8-inch tablet with HD IPS panel, that's 1280x800 screen resolution and 189ppi. Aside from what I have already mentioned above about its processing chip, the Smart Tab is complemented by a 2GB of RAM for smoother navigation experience on both operating systems. I heard, users will just need to press a button to switch from one OS to another even if the tablet is turned on, this is a very nice feature for dual-boot devices. Other devices I know will require you to boot the device first before you are greeted with an option to select which platform you would like to use (Android or Windows). But with a single button, anytime and anywhere? I think that is an awesome and very convenient feature.
As for its internal storage, there is a built-in 32GB, it may still too small for many of us but thankfully the slate can handle extra microSD card for up to 64GB, not to mention it also supports USB OTG functionality. For taking pictures and selfies, there is a 5MP and 2MP rear/front camera combination. WiFi and Bluetooth connectivities are supportted, I just do not know yet if GPS and cellular network are also included. But looks like there is no SIM slot.
Sitting inside the Cherry Mobile Smart Tab is a 3,800mAh battery pack. See additional specs below.

There are two color options this tablet will come in and that's black and white. Knowing that this device runs on a-bit-yesterday-versions of OS, I will try to confirm it with Cherry Mobile if this is upgradeable to the latest Android Lollipop and Windows 10, hopefully we get an immediate answer.
