You may have been wondering why you can't connect to the internet through your Smart mobile data plan since early this morning. Don't worry you are not alone, this is because it has to do with Smart Communications' on-going system upgrades they have been doing ever since President Duterte took office in July. I know this is not that easy especially for users who heavily rely on their mobile data to move around in the digital space and to get updated with friends like me, but Smart is asking us to bear with them as their system engineers work on it through a statement they recently released. See Smart's full advisory below.
For the uninitiated, Smart and PLDT are currently doing a nationwide upgrade of their internet service to enhance mobile internet experience and boost connectivity for all Smart users in the Philippines. And through this process, Smart had previously informed us that issue with connectivity may occur in some areas where the upgrade is being done.
As of writing there is no word yet as to how long the issue will last. You may try following Smart on their Facebook page to get direct updates from them regarding this. Additionally, I will also update this post as soon as I hear from Smart.
Update: 9/29/2016 at 12:16PM
Smart, again through their Facebook page, announces that the mobile internet service is now back to business. That was fast!
