Vivo V5 with 20MP Front Camera Now Officially Launched

As promised a few days ago, Vivo V5 is now officially launched in the Philippines and was formally introduced through a media event held at Solaire Resort and Casino earlier this evening. The event was attended by members of the media and bloggers from different parts of the country such as from Cebu, CDO and Manila.

If this is the first time you are hearing about the Vivo V5 smartphone or if you are not yet familiar with its key features, one of the main highlights of this device is its insane 20MP front facing camera. Yes you read that right, 20MP shooter with Sony IMX376 sensor located on the front panel. Vivo is actually marketing this particular model as the "Perfect Selfie" device. Selfie market in the Philippines is pretty huge and OPPO is currently enjoying that spot in the local market, but that may no longer be the case starting today.

Aside from the 20MP front shooter, the Vivo V5 sports features and specs that make it a little higher than most mid-range Android devices in the countryt. First off is the screen which is pegged at 5 inches with IPS and HD resolution, its processor is an octa-core processor from MediaTek clocked at 1.5GHz with also a huge 4GB RAM. Storage side there is 32GB right off the bat that can be expanded via microSD card up to 128GB. See more specs below.

Vivo V5 specs:
  • 5.5-inch HD IPS Display
  • 1280 x 720 resolution
  • 2.5D Gorilla Glass
  • 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek 6750 processor
  • Mali T860 GPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • Supports microSD card up to 128GB
  • 13MP rear camera with PDAF, LED flash and f/2.0 aperture lens
  • 20MP front camera with Sony IMX376 sensor

  • Dual-SIM
  • USB OTG

  • 3,000mAh battery
  • Php12,990
Surprisingly and interestingly, the Vivo V5, which not only very much look alike the OPPO F1s, is also priced the same as the latter at just Php12,990. I have to say that the Vivo V5's 20MP front shooting is the biggest crowd drawer here especially of those people who love taking selfie photos. OPPO F1s now has a serious challenger in the Selfie market and under the same price category. Judging by the specs alone, Vivo V5 is a much better deal compared to OPPO F1s and if this 20MP front camera-equipped device is also able to deliver the promised perfect selfie, OPPO will be needing to adjust its price in order to battle head to head with Vivo in this segment.
