Looks like Asus is not done yet releasing new variants of their current Zenfone 3 series. That is because some eagle-eyed tech enthusiasts have spotted a listing on TENAA website suggesting that a new model is on its way. And although the phone does not have an official name yet, except for a model number Z01HDA, most are referring to it as the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom.
So what's special about this yet-to-be-announced smartphone? It's none other than the dual-rear camera modules sitting on the phone's back panel. Based on the listing and TENAA's certification itself, we really cannot tell how the two back cameras are going to work on this device. However, if we are to follow the current camera trend on smartphones, we can safely assume that it will feature the same functionality found on the likes of Huawei P9, iPhone 7 Plus, LG V20 and others.
Like its predecessor which is the Zenfone Zoom, this Zen 3 Zoom will definitely focus on its camera capability. Unconfirmed reports say the back camera will sport two 16MP shooters, while the front camera is pegged at 13MP. One of the main specs of Zenfone Zoom is the 3x Optical Zoom functionality, which was a first on a smartphone when it came out last year and earlier this year in the Philippines. Having that in mind, this new Zenfone 3 Zoom could also be offering at least the same tech if not a more upgraded one.
Other specs suggest that we are looking a device with 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass like the current Zenfone 3 handsets around. At the heart of this device is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor clocking at 2.5GHz. We could also have three different variants of this Zenfone 3 Zoom and those are 2GB/16GB, 3GB/32GB, and 4GB/64GB.
Additionally, aside from running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, one of the sweetest treats here is the reported 4,850mAh battery pack that it will be offered with. That's even bigger than the latest Zenfone 3 Max which only pegged at 4100mAh.
So when can we expect this phone to go official? Well the nearest bet would be early next month at the upcoming CES 2017. After that, maybe a couple of weeks of months this Zenfone 3 Zoom will be released in key markets globally and let's just hope that the Philippines will be one of the first to get this.
