Finally! The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Are Now Officially Launched

Samsung has gone crazy! I mean these latest and hottest Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ devices are the most beautiful, sexy, sleek, modern and powerful flagship smartphone that we can have our eyes and hands on both on the inside and out right now. In case you hit the bed a little early last night, the Korean electronics giant has just returned to the business with the launching of its newest flag bearer devices, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+.

There are a lot of great stuff to talk about S8 and S8+ but one of the main selling points of these beautiful beasts is the display which Samsung is calling the Infinity Display, thanks to its almost bezel less borders, curved sides, taller screen and stunning screen resolution across. The usual physical home button is now nowhere to be found on the front panel, replacing it with nicely designed on-screen buttons. The Samsung logo that is usually situated at the top face of the phone is now gone as well, to give the maximum real estate possible to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ resulting to the largest display ever in the series without sacrificing the phone's overall size or dimension. In fact Mark of TechPinas.com noted, for example, that the S8 "only measures 148.9 x 68.1 x 8mm, making it even smaller than the Samsung Galaxy S7 which only has 5.5-inch display!"

Display size wise though, the Galaxy S8 sports 5.8" while the bigger Galaxy S8+ has 6.2" both with Quad-HD+ Super AMOLED display technology and 2990 x 1440 resolution. And speaking of resolution, Samsung said that users of these phones will also be able to adjust the resolution, from the default Quad-HD+ down to either Full HD+ (2220 x 1080) or HD+ (1480 x 720). I don't have any idea why would users lower the resolution, probably to save battery life, but it's there. If I can recall it right, these are the biggest display-bearing flagship smartphones we have ever had since a flagship smartphone has become a thing. These are now even bigger than the Galaxy Note series! Now I wonder where the Galaxy Note 8 will sit once it is launched later this year.

What about the processor? These devices will either be powered by the most powerful chipsets to date, either Snapdragon 835 or Samsung Exynos 8895 depending on the market. But in the Philippines we will probably get the Exynos variant. This SoC is partnered with Mali G71MP20, 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. Thankfully it still supports microSD card with size up to 256GB, however it does not have a dedicated spot for it, instead it will use the second SIM slot to function. So that's either you have two SIM cards at a time or a microSD card on the second slot.

Samsung is also debuting its very own smart virtual assistant called Bixby. It is aimed to compete head to head with the likes of Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa. Surprisingly, Bixby is having its own dedicated physical button on the left side of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, right below the volume rocker.
