It was in February Earth Hour launched its 2012 campaign "I Will If You Will", with the intention of engaging its growing global community to go beyond the hour. What can you do or offer to save the earth after than one-hour event?

The poster above is from the Facebook page of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines. On their Facebook page (WWF-Philippines) posted today, "Join us at the Ayala Triangle Gardens on March 31, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, as we stage the Earth Hour switch-off ceremony! We'll also hold two official Earth Hour switch-off events at Plaza Independencia in Cebu City and at SM City Davao in Davao City. See you there!"

Earth Hour is organized by WWF or World Wide Fund for Nature and is held annually encouraging every household and business establishment to take an hour to switch off the non-essential lights. A movement to raise awareness and to take action about climate change and to unite people across the earth to save earth.

The idea of Earth Hour originated in Sydney Australia in 2007 and from then on it became so popular all over the world and the participants are growing in numbers every year. One of the leading participants in this yearly event is the Philippines. GMAnews reported that Philippines was the global leader in Earth Hour participation for the last three years with the record breaking 1,661 cities and towns joining the Earth Hour events. So far it was Earth Hour 2011 was the biggest of the yearly celebrations.

I am hoping that Philippines will lead again the switch-off lights ceremony this year. I have been participating Earth Hour for three years now and it is really amazing doing something significant than just talking about it. I hope you will you will join too.
