Movie Review: The Avengers

Today I finally made it! I'm always late when it comes to seeing new movies, but still glad that I am always making it to see on the big screen. Big chances are, you already know what the Avengers movie is about and you might have seen the movie yourself as it has been invading theaters and breaking box office records since April 25. Directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers is for me the movie of the year. It is not a disappointing one, most of you would agree.

Movie Synopsis:

Marvel's The Avengers - the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Captain America and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that
threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peace keeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in a need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. - ©Marvel

Seeing half a dozen of Marvel famous super heroes in one film is just great. Seeing most of them fighting each other at the onset of the movie, which I rarely see in other films, is simply too marvelous to ignore.

I definitely enjoyed the movie, it's not just about spectacular effects, CGI, coolness of gadgets, costumes and fighting sequences, but there's also a story and of course the sense of humor of the film that made me like the film even more especially Hulk's. I could not forget the confrontation between Hulk an Loki at tark's tower. And the story of each character was perfectly told to viewers.

One thing I really did not like about watching this, like I said the film is great, it was the cinema I watched at, the film was supposed to start by 6:05pm and we were let in around 5:50pm. If you were inside a movie heater, what would you expect to see on the screen before a movie start? Other movie trailer, right? Common TV commercials were shown instead. Commercials of the products and services we already know. They took advantage of the popularity of the Avengers to showcase their products to movie watchers. I am not saying commercials are bad but as a movie goer I go to theaters to see a movie and some upcoming films through trailers, so advertisements like those were something I did not expect to see. Another thing that added to my frustration was the movie did not start until 6:17pm. I was hoping there was something given to us like a simple "treat"(a tumbler of soda perhaps) for seeing those commercials. I can forgive then since it does not happen that much, but I don't want it to be a trend everytime there's another crowd-drawing movie coming out like the Avengers.
