Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story, Bags Trophies at FAB Awards

This is one of the 2011 movies I wanted to watch but never had a chance to see it up until now.

The main reason is Asiong Salonga is one of the famous Pinoy gangster leaders not just in real life but also in Philippine box office industry, especially when former President Joseph Estrada portrayed Asiong on the big screen. Another reason is how this new Salonga film is being rendered for the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival. So far I have only seen pictures and trailer of this movie and I really like it, maybe I've had enough of Pinoy love-story themed movies. It is the very first Filipino major film presented in black and white in the
21st century. To me it's like the resurrection of a Pinoy action film with a much more upgraded visual effects.

Since its opening on Christmas day last year, Manila Kingpin has brought home numerous recognition from different award giving bodies. There are Best Picture, Best Actor for Jorge Estregan as the leadrole,
Best Supporting Actor John Regala, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Screenplay and many more.

Recently at Film Academy of the Philippines or FAB, another best picture and best actor awards were given to Governor Jorge E.R. Estregan Jr and his Manila Kingpin: Asiong Salonga Story. reported that the VCD and DVD copies of this movie are out now at video stores with price tags of P299 and P600 respectively.

With these updates on this film, it is giving me more reasons and reminders to see it as soon as possible. I hope to watch it before September ends.
