Starmobile Diamond D1, A Quad-core Phablet with 3,000mAh Battery for Php7,990

Starmobile silently and surprisingly announced its another Diamond Android smartphone running Jellybean 4.2 and it's called Diamond D1. The announcement was only via its Facebook page by posting an image (see below) showcasing the phablet's features and of course the price which is pegged at Php7,990.

The Starmobile Diamond D1 has a 5-inch display making its category to fall under phablet sizes. However, on the first day of its announcement, the exact screen resolution was not confirmed as it is one of the major specs consumers look after before deciding to buy a phone and I do not know why it was not included in this press photo of the Diamond D1.

I just checked the Starmobile Facebook page to day, and good news is they posted another poster of the Diamond D1 with complete specs including the screen resolution. See the image below. As what is expected of its price tag of Php7,990, the resolution was not that impressive. The poster says "5-inch Capacitive Screen with Dragontrail glass, FWVGA 480x854 pixels (195ppi), 16 million colors."

Although the display resolution seems to be the downturn of the whole device, it's still acceptable and tolerable for its retail price of less than 8k, anyway there is the 3,000mAh battery which should be enough to last longer than the usual Pinoy-branded smartphones around, the quad-core processor and the RAM. Aside from that, other technical specs we can get out of the Diamond D1 are 1.2GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A-7 a Mediatek MT6589M processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage which is also good for expansion via microSD card that can support up to 32GB additional space.

When it comes to the cameras, the Starmobile is generous here as there are 12MP back camera and 8MP front lens both with autofocus and BSI technology> Do not also forget that the back camera has LED Flash.

As per latest post on Starmobile's FB page, the Diamond D1 is now available nationwide.
