The Asus Padfone Mini Announced


The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer just announced a smaller follow up to their Padfone Infinity gadget, the Padfone Mini. Padfone is one of the unique gadget offerings on the market by the tech company where the package comes with a smartphone and a tablet docking station, the tablet can be used when the smartphone is embedded in its back. Now there's the Padfone Mini which was launched in Taiwan which sports the same combo, a 7-inch tablet and a 4.3-inch Android smartphone. Read on for more details on technical specifications.

The Smartphone and tablet offer 1,500mAh and 2,200mAh batteries respectively and once the smartphone has run out of battery, users can recharge it from the tablet. So if you have the tablet and handset with you, you get a total battery life of 3,700mAh.

The Padfone Mini will be powered by a 1.4GHz Quad-core Qualcomm MSM8226 processor along with a 1GB of RAM, a 960x540 resolution will be on display of the smartphone while the tablet will have 1280x800 pixel resolution. There is a 16GB internal storage option which can be expanded via microSD card. It is a dual-sim smartphone. On the back of the device will be an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash paired with a 2MP secondary lens for selfie and video calling purposes. And of course, it is powered by an Android 4.3 Jellybean software. Those technical specifications are for the 4.3-inch smartphone, the tablet will be powered by the phone's specs once docked into its back.

Currently the Asus Padfone Mini will be available in Taiwan only, but a report on Engadget tells us that it will also be offered in China, Russia, Hongkong, Singapore and Indonesia. And Engadget also reported that ASUS told them the Padfone will be heading to the US soil next year. What about the Philippines? We would love to have it in out list, I am sure.
