TV5 is the Official 2014 and 2016 Olympics Broadcaster

The Kapatid network was just awarded to be the official 2014 Winter Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics broadcaster here in the Philippines. These two prestigious international sports events will be specifically covered by Sports5 a TV5 network sports arm. Aside from the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and Rio 2016 Olympics, the network will also cover the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympics. 

"This is wonderful news for Filipino sports fans. Sporting events has been the number one program that unites all Filipinos. That’s why we are excited to bring to them the biggest sporting event with the best athletes from all over the world,” TV5 chief executive officer and president Noel Lorenzana said.

The Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics will be held in Russia and this is also the first time Winter games is held in this country. This games will have 98 medal events in 7 sports, the Sports5 will start covering the Winter Olympic Games on February 8. For the first time in 22 years, Philippines will join this event debuting a Pinoy figure skater. 
Before the year ends, the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympics will be held in China from August 16 to August 28 where it will showcase 222 medal events in 28 sports. And then of course the most awaited international sports competition of all, the Rio 2016 Olympics to be held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil where this one is expected to sport 314 medal events in 28 sports. Rio 2016 Olympics will be aired from August 5 to August 21, 2016.
