[Updated] Starmobile Diamond X1 Octa-core Smartphone Specs Released, and the Price

Before 2013 ended last year, Starmobile teased us with their first octa-core or 8-core smartphone which was to be released early this year, there were even some tech bloggers who were sent press images of the said Android powered smartphone. When that news emerged online late last year, only limited information were available and mostly were speculations as to what features and specs would be included in this first local-branded octaphone device. Today, almost full specs were revealed by Starmobile on their Facebook page when they posted the photo of the Diamond X1 with the specs with it. Read on for more information after the jump.

Let's take a quick run down of the Starmobile Diamond X1 specs.

- 6-inch HD IPS Capacitive screen, 1280x720 resolution
- Android Jellybean 4.2.2
- 1.7GHz Octa-core MTK 6592 processor
- 8GB Internal storage capacity
- 3G, HSPA+
- 18MP Autofocus BSI rear camera
- 8MP BSI Front camera
- Dual SIM, one regular sim and another microsim, dual standby
- Dual band WiFi , Bluetooth
- Yamaha Speakers
- Black or White
- OTA software update
- Scratch resistant glass

What's missing? Yes that's right, the battery size. Let's hope that the battery juice is enough to sustain atleast a day of usage. It is a truly octa-core and monster smartphone from a local brand and as we can see in the specs above, everything is for a high-end level device. Everything is acceptable to me and if there is one thing I am not that happy about, that would be the screen resolution. The Starmobile Diamond X1 was decided to only sport HD display or 1280x720p, although its not bad to my eyes, the trending now is Full HD resolution or 1920x1080 for flagship smartphones or phablet. Now there is still good news behind it, as low resolution-ed devices consume battery juices less than those with more pixel density. And that resolution also, of course helps the price goes a little bit down. Remember it's an 8-core smartphone, a 6-incher phablet and has 2GB RAM imagine how much energy it would consume if Full HD display is also in the party. Bigger battery will also affect the phone's slim profile of just 7.0mm. Bigger battery and higher resolution also ends up the phone having a higher price.

So as of this very moment we are just waiting for the availability date, suggested retail price or SRP and the battery size. And of course the reviews to see how the Diamond X1 will perform in real life. But as per previous reports, it should be released to the market before January ends.

Starmobile, via their Facebook page has just officially released the suggested retail price for its first Octa-phone called Starmobile Diamond X1. According to the image they just posted, the SRP is Php13,990 and the device is now available for purchase. The Starmobile Diamond X1 review posted by Unbox says that the device will either sport a 2,400mAh or 2,300mAh battery. What do you guys think of the price?

  1. Don't get your hopes too high. The release date is not an official date. STARMOBILE has this antic since SM-Knight. Full of B/S. The media leak in April2013, Launch date on June 2013, Release date august2013. October2013 reached the shores of cagayan de oro.

Another lame marketing ploy. I bet my neck that it'd be released on February 3, 2014 nationwide and on shelves.

STARMOBILE is a great company in playing waiting game for new products. But sucks in terms of product logistics and availability.

  2. Are they joking? 1st smartphone in local market? eh Cherry mobile Z2 is already available here in cagayan de oro. No sight of the X1. Duh.

  3. Its already released..the prize is 13k+
