Philips W6618 an Android Smartphone with 5,300mAh Battery

Philips is one of the leading tech companies known for manufacturing home appliances has just unveiled a new Android-based smartphone called Philips W6618 which measures 5 inches across its screen and boasting a massive 5,300mAh battery size. That's right mate! It is 5,300mAh battery juice, which is too big for a smartphone of todays' standard. I usually see this big in tablets but very rare for a smartphone and that is very interesting and tempting to have.

It is Cloudfone Thrill 530qx Android smartphone that I have covered here in my blog that offers the biggest battery size of 4,500mAh so far until this Philips W6618 came along. With that amount of battery juice (5,300mAh), if fully charged can last up to 66 days in standby mode, the company claims, and up to 33 hours life of talk time. Now since the battery is so massive, we also have to expect that the physical size has to bulk up as well. The device is a bit chunky at 11.6mm thick.

However, not everything here in Philips W6618 is as great as its power house. The display only sports a 5-inch qHD one which is equivalent to 540x960 pixel resolution, 220ppi. Powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek Processor and 1GB of RAM. There is also a 4GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD card. Additionally, this W6618 runs Android 4.2 Jellybean.

There is also one more important thing that we have to keep in mind for now, the Philips W6618 is currently and only available in China for a price of about Php12K when converted to our currency. No world yet if this will hit international consumers including the Philippines.

This 5,300mAh battery size in a smartphone is a perfect combination with a new upcoming technology from an Israeli start up company called StoreDot where they have developed a device that can recharge a phone's battery up in only 30 seconds. See their video demo here, it is a very impressive product which I believe every smartphone and tablet user would really like to have.
