The "Flagship Killer" OnePlus One Smartphone is Now Official

After months of teasers OnePlus, headed by Peter Lau who was the vice president of another electronics company Oppo, has finally made its first smartphone official, meet the One. This new smartphone in the scene has been dubbed "the flagship killer". When I heard that, I immediately went ahead and checked its specifications out and yes, it's really going to be one of the tough-to-resist smartphones out there this year.

OnePlus One runs on CyanogenMod 11S software which is based on Android 4.4 Kitkat. It is a 5.5-inch smartphone with 1920x1080p Full HD Display weighing only 162grams which the company claims to be the lightest 5.5 incher smartphone in the world. Under the One's hood are the 2.5GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB built-in storage. Users can select between two color variants and those are sandstone black and silk white, the back cover is not only removable but also changeable with the company's StyleSwap covers that come in different colors and variants like bamboo, wood, denim and kevlar.

As for its camera, on the back there is a 13MP lens which features Sony Exmor IMX214 Sensor with 6 lenses and f/2.0 aperture. Like some other high-end smartphones, this rear camera can record 4K videos. Then on the front panel sits a 5MP snapper. Underneath the OnePlus One is a 3,100mAh battery.

Connectivity wise, One supports 4G LTE, WiFi, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and Bluetooyh 4.1. MicroUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm headset jack. Now after knowing all those specs this One offers, many thought that the price would be high too. A 16GB variant will cost users $299 and $349 for a 32GB version. Beginning second quarter of the year, the device will be available in the US, Canada, the UK, some parts of Europe, HongKong and Taiwan. The Philippines was not mentioned by the company but they said other markets will follow suit months after the initial release.
