LG G3 Is Now Official With 5.5" Quad-HD Display

LG held a simultaneous events in New York, London and San Francisco on May 27 where the Korean electronics company officially announced its most anticipated, much rumored and leaked flagship smartphone for the year, the LG G3. One of the highlights of this G3 is its display which boasts a 5.5-inch (with extremely thin bezels) Quad-HD display with 2560x1440 pixel resolution. This is not the first smartphone with that resolution though, there was already the Oppo Find 7 in the scene which sports the same size of screen but this LG G3 here offers a lot more that many will most likely find hard to ignore.

LG said they were able to reduce the pixel size by 44% making the G3 able to feature twice the pixels of a usual full HD smartphones so that is a 5.5-inch IPS display with 2560x1440 pixel arrangement and 538ppi or pixels per inch. LG also revamped its UI on top of the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat which now they call it "Simple Flat GUI" that used minimalistic design. Just like the previous LG G smartphones the power and volume keys are still found on its back panel. Speaking of back panels, LG G3 still sports plastic casing but with brushed finish metallic look and that's okay with me as it still provides a premium look and gives the device a lesser weight, it sits at 150grams.

This new smartphone from LG can also come with the Quick Circle Case which is sold separately and was officially announced last week, you may check out the video demo here to see how this casing works with this LG G3. If you also plan to purchase an LG G watch, good news is this G3 is compatible with that smartwatch. Actually LG said any wearable device powered by an Android Gear is compatible with the G3 smartphone.
Inside the G3 are 2.5GHz quad-core processor by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, it comes in two variants in terms of RAM size a 16GB internal storage version will have 2GB of RAM while a 32GB one has 3GB of RAM. If those right-out-the-box storage options are not enough, users can purchase microSD card which is supported by this smartphone and that can be up to 128GB. Pricing is yet to be announced for the LG G3 and by May 28 this device will be available in South Korea and the a total of 170 carriers around the globe will follow suit.
