Starmobile VIDA, an Android Kitkat Smartphone for Php2,490

Starmobile calls their new smartphone offering "the most affordable Android Kitkat smartphone with 3G". Yes the Starmobile VIDA is powered by Android 4.4 Kitkat with 3G connectivity for only Php2,490.

Starmobile VIDA features a 3.5-inch screen with its display sporting a 480x320 resolution and 167ppi. The engine is powered by a 1.0GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor paired with 512MB of RAM and an onboard 4GB of storage. The internal storage is extremely small but thanks to its microSD support as users can have up to additional 32GB of space.

For the cameras, users will get a 5MP rear facing camera with built-in photo editing tools. On the front side there is a VGA camera and this one features a SmileShot capability, this allows users to take selfie photos by simply smiling at the camera. Starmobile says this is best used when using monopad for selfie-taking moments.

Looking at the specs, it's very clear that Starmobile does not aim to bring in another high-end Android Kitkat smartphone but to bring the Kitkat experience to everybody at an extremely affordable price. Additionally, Starmobile cares about security of the device they offer that's why they pre-loaded this VIDA with Dr Safety, a free app from security expert Trend Micro which helps protect users from dangerous apps and websites.
