Meizu MX4 Pro Boasts 2K+ Display, Octa-core Samsung Exynos Processor and Retina Sound

Meizu is back again with yet another specs-packed smartphone as it just announced the new Meizu MX4 Pro at an event in China today. It is a follow up to the Meizu MX4 smartphone that was unveiled and released in September of this year. As you can notice in the naming, the newest one should be the upgraded and more powerful version of the original, and yes the MX4 Pro is definitely worth the name.

The Meizu MX4 Pro is slightly larger at 5.5" with quad HD IPS display boasting a 2560x1536 pixel resolution. The normal Quad HD devices such as Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and LG G3 usually sport 2560x1440 resolution but Meizu made the MX4 Pro "better than normal 2k" with additional pixels, some call it "2K+" display. The very clear with extremely thin bezels display is also protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Under the hood is the new Samsung Exynos 5430 chip with eight cores of processors, one in 2.0GHz quad-core A15 and another in 1.5GHz quad-core A7 processors. It's nice to hear that Meizu chose an Exynos chip over MediaTek processor which powers the first MX4. To compliment the oct-core chip Meizu included a 3GB of RAM for an even smoother navigation and performance. Internal storage options are 16GB, 32GB and 64GB and all of these are non-expandable.

As for MX4 Pro's cameras, on the back is a massive 20.7MP shooter equipped with Sony IMX220 sensor and a f/2.2 aperture, autofocus and LED flash are also on board. This rear camera is improved to eliminate more noise when taking pictures. Users can also record 4k videos at 30 frames per second rate. The front facing camera is also upgraded now sporting a 5MP lens, also with f/2.2 aperture lens, autofocus and 1080p video recording.

Meizu MX4 Pro runs Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with the Chinese company's Flyme 4.1 OS on top.

Now there also a new addition to the mix that makes Meizu even more proud of this smartphone and that is the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button with metal rim. Meizu calls it mTouch, the home key is covered with sapphire glass to ensure its toughness and it features 508ppi so it will still work even when your finger is wet or has some dirt. Orientation is also not going to be a problem with this mTouch as it can scan fingerprints in full 360 degrees, what more interesting about it is that Meizu claims that the sensor can respond in as fast as 0.5 second. This particular feature enables to users not just to unlock the device but also makes purchases.

One more thing about the MX4 Pro is what Meizu is calling "Retina Sound", if you are familiar with Apple's Retina Display which sports a super clear and very detailed display that should work the same thing for Meizu's Retina Sound. Thanks to the ES9018 DAC audio processor, OPA1612 amplifier, Hi Fi Audio and other high end components built in the smartphone to provide the highest quality of audio.
