Xiaomi Mi Note is Now Official

At an event in Beijing China, the Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi has officially announced today their newest flagship device, the Mi Note. Many assumed and expected it to be called RedMi Note 2 but the company decided to just name it Mi Note.

What I like the most about the Mi Note is its design and the casing is a combination of metal, plastic and glass. The sides of the device is made of metal, the front panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with slight curving in the edge, Xiaomi calls is 2.5D curved glass while the back panel is also covered in Gorilla Glass 3 but with 3D curved glass, so the curved part should be more obvious at this part of the phablet.

Speaking of phablet, the Xiaomi Mi Note definitely falls under that device category as it sports a 5.7-inch screen, slightly bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus, with Full HD display made by Sharp/JDI. On the inside is a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor partnered with a 3GB of RAM and will come in 16GB or 64GB internal storage options, not clear yet if the Mi Note supports microSD card for additional memory.

The rear camera is pegged at 13MP and uses Sony's IMX214 CMOS lens with optical image stabilization, dual-tone LED flash and an f/2.0 aperture. The front camera is at 4MP but with large 2-micron pixels. By looking at those numbers and names, these should be pretty impressive cameras. HiFi audio system is also onboard with 24-bit/192KHz lossless playback support.
