LG G4 the New Flagship Smartphone is now Official

As what promised, LG officially announced their newest flagship smartphone for the year, LG G4 is introduced. To me almost all of the features, specs and the phone itself are no longer a surprise when unveiled as most of the leaked and rumored details about the device were proven to be accurate, not to mention LG's mini official confirmations about some of the G4's details. But yeah this is a hell of a smartphone especially the cameras and display where the Korean company managed to enhanced from last year's G3. It can definitely compete head to head with iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6.

Good thing to know is when Samsung decided to drop the microSD support and removable battery option on their Galaxy S6 smartphones, LG did not follow as they still kept the expandable memory option via microSD card up to 128GB and a still removable battery pack coming in at 3,000mAh.

Like the G3, LG G4 sports the same 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) display but with additional enhancement LG is calling Quantum IPS. This particular feature enables to screen to produce more accurate color and enables to more light output, this should make the device's display better than previous iterations even when used outdoors during day. The volume rocker and power key are still located on the back together with the rear camera.

Speaking of the G4's cameras, the one on the back is pegged at 16MP resolution with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization and laser autofocus system. This is way better than we have on the G3 and LG even claimed that this specs the rear camera is capable of capturing 80% more light than its predecessor. There is also this "color spectrum sensor" that promises more accurate color and white balance in difficult lighting conditions.

This time around LG opted for all-plastic casing with leather backs as an alternate looks.  The G4 will be available in multiple selections in terms of the back covers where there would be three colors (gray, gold and white) for the plastic ones and six (black, brown, red, sky blue, beige , yellow) for the vegetable-tanned leather rears. These real leathers, LG said, are "high grade" that take 12 weeks to manufacture.

As of posting, the South Korean company has not mentioned official pricing for the G4 but some tech bloggers who were at the event have confirmed with LG reps that it would be priced almost the same pricing when the G3 was launched. LG G4 is expected to be released in late May or early June in Korea and other international markets including the Philippines will follow suit. For local release I think there will be a separate announcement for that and for the SRP.
