George R.R. Martin Releases a New Chapter from The Winds of Winter

In just two weeks Game of Thrones fans from around the world will see the first episode of the GoT Season 5 on HBO. This season is defintely the most anticipated installment so far and speaking of anticipation, we all know that Game of Thrones TV series is based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series, The Winds of Winter is no doubt the most awaited book installment from Martin.

Up until today there is still no concrete release date for the sixth book of the ASOIF fantasy novels, some say that Martin will do his best to finally finish and launch it in 2016. Still a long way to go and still no assurance that that will be the release year. However, a good news just hit the online world about the new and upcoming book, George R.R. Martin just released a new chapter from The Winds of Winter and published it on his website. See the chapter's (titled Alayne) first lines below.

She was reading her little lord a tale of the Winged Knight when Mya Stone came knocking on the door of his bedchamber, clad in boots and riding leathers and smelling strongly of the stable. Mya had straw in her hair and a scowl on her face. That scowl comes of having Mychel Redfort near, Alayne knew.

“Your lordship,” Mya informed Lord Robert, “Lady Waynwood’s banners have been seen an hour down the road. She will be here soon, with your cousin Harry. Will you want to greet them?”

Why did she have to mention Harry? Alayne thought. We will never get Sweetrobin out of bed now. The boy slapped a pillow. “Send them away. I never asked them here.”

Read the whole chapter from George R.R. Martin's website.

Additionally it has also been reported that Martin has cancelled all his media and event appearance schedules and also turned down writing any Game of Thrones Season 6 episodes so that he could have more time and focus on completing the follow-up book to the A Dance With Dragons book that was released in 2011.
