Starmobile Up Vision with Digital TV Tuner Now Officially Available
Following the Knight Vision that was unveiled and launched in March, Starmobile is yet again releasing a new member of the Vision line up that features access to free digital TV channels in the Philippines, meet the Starmobile Up Vision. And it's even more affordable than the first smartphone with specs not too far from each other.
Right out of the box users get a 4.7-inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution for clearer and brighter display. Powering the Up Vision is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor which is most likely a MediaTek made one and there is a 1GB of RAM for multitasking purposes. Storage wise users will have an 8GB onboard space that can be expanded via microSD card up to another 32GB.
Of course the main event of the device is the built-in digital TV tuner that enables consumers to tune in to free-to-air digital TV channels in the Philippines. As of March of this year there are more than 10 free TV channels in digital format that are available which includes stations from ABS-CBN and GMA Network. Digital format is the upgraded and latest platform of broadcasting in the country and it is NTC-regulated to provides consumers better listening and viewing experience over analog signals.
The cameras are also more generous on the Up Vision with the rear one coming in at 13MP equipped with autofocus, BSI sensor, LED flash and the new Blue Glass Filter technology and then partnered with an 8MP front facing camera with LED flash. These are pretty good cameras and should produce better quality of pictures even in dark environment due to BSI or Backside Illumination feature that comes with them.
As for the mobile operating system it is pre-installed with Android 4.4 Kitkat, hopefully it will be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop OS by Starmobile. Other connectivity features are also available like the WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G supports. This Up Vision is Miracast and Chromecast support ready for wireless display functionality that can extend to televisions and other Miracast supported displays.
Available in Black and White color options the Starmobile Up Vision is now available nationwide for only Php5,990, that's Php4,00 difference from the Knight Vision. If there is one turn off I could spot here, that would be the battery which only has 1,800mAh.
