Watch Elon Musk's Keynote Announcing the Tesla Powerwall Home Batteries
Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk took the stage at an event they held yesterday in the US and announced a new line of business and products both for residential and industrial, the Tesla Energy. Under Tesla Energy the first products are Tesla Powerall home betteries, solar energy powered batteries which aims to be the new household thing that takes care of electricity supply using the renewable energy source which "is a handy fusion reactor called the Sun" according to Musk.
The powerwalls will come in two models one with 10kWh and another 7kWh (Kilowatt Hour) and both will measure 51 inches tall and about 220lbs in weigh. These things are can be mounted on walls so have a space it inside the house or garage are is not going to be a problem. Elon Musk said that the issue with existing batteries we have on the market is that "they suck", they are inefficient, unreliable, most of all expensive and many other things and that there is still a "missing piece" which the people need and want. An environment friendly-device and very efficient in terms of performance and cost. Popular Science website sited that other solar companies like Sungevity and Bosch offer the same type of device with prices ranging from $10,000 to $30,000. Tesla Energy Powerwall will only cost $3,500 at launch.
Watch the video below featuring Elon Musk's keynote at the announcement event and everything he has to say about the world's problems that are aimed to be solved by his company's new products and what other people and consumers can do to help this world become a better and safest place than it's becoming to be.
Elon Musk plans to initially release these Tesla Powerwalls in the United States in Summer but he also hopes to release it internationally and that actually his goal in near future.
To be honest I really like these new products of him as these promotes cheaper and safer way to generate electricity. This will be helpful especially in places in the Philippines where electricity supplies from major companies are still not available and most of all beneficial to the entire country as we are one of those countries that have very expensive electricity price. I am with Tesla Energy's environmental campaign and I hope this won't take long before it becomes available in the Philippines.
What do you think?
