Cherry Mobile Omega 3 Now Available for Php5,499

The Cherry Mobile Omega 3 smartphone is actually not formally announced and released yet by Cherry Mobile, however one of its resellers and most popular sources of smartphone and tablet related stuff of so many tech enthusiasts and bloggers from the Philippines called Cherry Angel is now selling the Omega 3 for just Php5,499 asking price.

Cherry Angel's Facebook page shows two new live photos of the Omega 3 in white which were posted a couple of days ago. However, Cherry Angel did not post the specs of the device. But based on these photos and comments posted below them, I have learned a couple of new things about the device.

First off is the battery size, when it the Omega 3's photo was leaked a couple days ago there was no mention of the battery and for many of us this is one of the most important features we look at first before deciding to buy the phone. Cherry Angel itself confirmed that the phone sports a 2,100mAh battery pack. Another thing is the display resolution, it's still an unconfirmed feature up until today since the smartphone is still not official, again looking at the photo it is clearly stated on the box "HD". This means, we can safely assume this gadget sports at least an HD or 720p resolution. Now if we also take a look on the screen sticker, we can vaguely see the letters "FHD". See a crop image below.

Of course it would be much better if the display sports a Full HD display for the best viewing experience. If that's the case, there's only one turn off I see here and that's the battery. See there's only 2,100mAh juice, now Full HD and Octa-core is not a good combination for that battery size based on my own experience. If the device is smart enough to run less than eight cores at a time especially for those very light tasks, I think this will work just fine. Another thing is, if the battery bears a fast charge technology, that would be a plus as well. But still we cannot judge this phone until we run a full review or ask those people's experience who will use it.

Cherry Angel, through the comments even confirmed that the Omega 3 does not support microSD card for memory expansion. That means, you are stuck with the less-than-16GB available internal storage (after system and pre-installed apps' memory consumption), and if you have an existing memory card you won't be able to use them. Good thing is there is USB-OTG support.
