Starmobile Up Neo With Octa-core and 13MP Rear Camera for Less than Php7k

It's not on their Facebook page yet which is most of the time our basis for the official announcement of a device from a company but the Up Neo smartphone is already listed on Starmobile's own website. Thanks to our fellow tech bloggers from the country as they were able to spot it right before Starmobile makes it formally unveiled.

The Starmobile Up Neo is the newest member of the Up Series of products from this local company and based on what we see on the device's product page, most of the specs we need to know are already posted their including its suggested retail price which comes in at Php6,490.

Now if we take a look back at the recent power-packed mid-range devices from other competition under the same price range, the Up Neo shares the same price tag with Alcatel Flash Plus smartphone. These two smartphones also share almost the same set of specs, but the Flash Plus has some advantages like it supports LTE and a much higher battery pack at 3,500mAh. The Lenovo A7000 is also another popular smartphone in the same scene but it is slightly more expensive than these two, it's for Php7,390 and specs are almost the same as Flash Plus with rear camera being less calibrated and battery a bit smaller in terms of mAh. It's advantage is, it's already powered by an Android Lollipop and has the Dolby ATMOS Surround Sound which the Up Neo and Flash Plus don't have.

However, if we are to focus on build, quality and performance of a phone, Starmobile is already tried and tested to that more than the other players in town. Aside from the Up Neo sporting a 5.3-inch HD display and a true octa-core processor from MediaTek, other things I like about this device is the rear camera with a resolution of 13MP. It is also equipped with BSI and f/2.2 aperture to capture the best photo quality possible especially in dark places or low-light situations. Even the front camera is powered with a BSI feaute with its 5MP resolution.
