Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is Now Officially Unveiled

During the Samsung Unpacked event held in NewYork yesterday, the Korean company did not unveil one smartphone, but two. Together with the Galaxy Note 5, a new and bigger version of Galaxy S6 has been unveiled and that's the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Samsung made a significant design change when the formally launched the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge earlier this year, sporting all metal and glass all throughout the unibody design, it was a move that many critics and users praised Samsung for. And since that was the case on its appreciation, Samsung is expanding the series' premium design to the phablet category of devices and we are seeing that on the Note 5 and now on the S6 Edge+.

First look at the S6 Edge+ it's really hard to identify it separately from the original S6 Edge unless they sit next to each other. We still see the same dual curved edges in front, and as the name suggest, a bigger 5.7-inch (compared to 5.1 of the first variant) Quad HD display sporting 2560 x 1440 resolution.

The RAM and battery size were sized up here on the S6 Edge+, that's from 3GB to 4GB RAM and from 2,600mAh to 3,000mAh. While charging time will be the same as the regular S6 Edge device, thanks to its fast charge technology. Also, like the S6, S6 Edge and Note 5, this S6 Edge+ is encased in a unibody chassis with all-metal sides and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 front and back panels. This is a pretty impressive and nice-looking chassis I have ever seen, but it still come with a cost. The cost of losing the option to add microSD card and to remove and replace battery, like the Note 5 as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, to me, is like the Galaxy Note 5 minus the S-Pen and its features and the round edges being in front instead on the back. When I first heard about the Galaxy Note Edge last year and this year's Galaxy S6 Edge, I though the next would be a Galaxy Note Edge 2 with dual curved-edges screens sporting the same functionality of a typical Note phablet, but what we got is this.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be available in the US this August together with the Galaxy Note 5, in the Philippines we can expect it sometime next month. A report on Engadget says that according to US carriers' pricing the S6 Edge+ is a bit pricier than the Note 5, those dual-curved edges I guess.
