Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Davao Officially Launches the Gift Giving Journal 2016

From time to time, I am being invited to non-tech-related events and I am always very happy and feel privileged to be part of these kinds of gathering here in the city. A couple of weeks ago I was also at the launch of Starbucks' Christmas Menu together with their much anticipated annual planner, you can read more about it on this previous post of mine. And then on Saturday morning another well-known coffee shop, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, invited the Davao Bloggers Society of which I am a member of, to their "Give Flavorfully 2015 Holiday Launch" at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) branch at SM Lanang Premiere.

There were a lot of fun things that happened during the event, we even had a Watercolor Lettering Workshop session led by Ms. April San Pedro of But the main event was about the official launch of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's 2016 Planner which they officially call the "Giving Journal 2016" (later you will know why it's called that way and I tell you, the meaning of that is very interesting and will really make you want to participate or at least collect one), together with the release of this coffee shop's Christmas beverage which many coffee addicts will love.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf was founded by the couple Mona and Herbert Hyman in 1963. The first CBTL store was established in Brentwood, California of that same year and their shop was the very first of its kind to sell fresh roasted gourmet coffees and teas. Since then the rest was history. Year 2003 when the first franchise arrived in the Philippines, giving Filipinos access to superior quality coffee and tea through its 72 branches (and counting) nationwide.

Below are some of the photos I managed to take during our Watercolor Lettering Session with Ms. Apri San Pedro, it was a very fun activity as it was able to bring out the little artistic version of us, not to mention to reminisce our elementary school days and we, or at least I, learned new things about lettering like when to and not to put pressure on every brush stroke on the canvas while you do lettering and using watercolor or materials of the same kind. For example, when doing upstrokes, the pressure should be light and should create thinner lines while downstrokes have to have more pressure creating thicker lines, see images below.

And this is my finished product. Each of us was asked to write down our "Power Word" and how we can give flavorfully this 2015 holiday season. : ) And this is my finished product that says "Level-Up". Each of us was asked to write down our "Power Word" and how we can give flavorfully this 2015 holiday season. : )

Okay let's go back to the Giving Journal 2016. Check out the short video clip below showcasing the previous CBTL planners and what made them unique and why it's not like the normal annual planers see around.

Above is the official Giving Journal 2016 planner and as you can see they come in four different vibrant colors, Tiffany Blue, Violet, Mustard Yellow and Brown. See the video below which explains how to get one.

    - 1 CBTL Single Serve Beverage System (Kaldi, Contata and/or Desto) purchase automatically allows the customer to claim a 2016 Giving Journal

So why the Giving Journal?

This new edition of The Giving Journal is designed to inspire each individual to pursue their passions and find meaning and fulfillment in everyday moments, while at the same time providing them with opportunities to give back while helping others.

It is the tradition of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf to give back to the community, and they have partnered with Real LIFE Foundation, the Giving Journal's beneficiary, to fulfill this tradition by supporting the educational needs of the less fortunate. To date, CBTL has already sponsored 38 university scholars since 2011 - giving them the chance to fulfill their dreams, help their families, and improve their prospects for a brighter future. At the event, we also learned that the brand was proud to share that 13 of those sponsored students have already graduated college. Evidently, The Giving Journal is certainly not your ordinary planner, it is a gift where the joy of giving and receiving it lasts well past the holiday season.

And that is what I really love about Coffee Bean's planners, it is not just for the sake of collecting or having one every year-end, but also for giving and helping the community. This will really make you proud owning one as you will definitely know you are part of something big and with purpose.
