Newly Announced Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Goes Full Metal and Yet Still Very Affordable

The Chinese tech company Xiaomi is now returning to the scene with the announcement of their new product offerings for  the Christmas season and first in the line is the Redmi Note 3. This new all-metal and fingerprint sensor-equipped smartphone from Xiaomi was officially unveiled at the recent National Convention Center in Beijing.

If you didn't find the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2's plastic body too pleasing or premium in terms of looks and feel, then you may be happy to know that this Redmi Note 3 now comes in a unibody design sporting three different color selections, gold, silver or dark gray. Additionally, there is now a fingerprint scanner sitting on the back of the device which is capable of unlocking the phone in just 0.3 seconds. However, it is not confirmed yet if this fingerprint sensor can also be used with setting up payment authorizations. Now since Xiaomi has their own Mi Wallet that was released a couple of months back, it is most likely integrated with this digital payment service from the Chinese company.

The front panel, where most of the actions are to take place is dominated by a massive 5.5-inch screen with full HD and sunlight display. Sunlight display terminology might be new to most of us but it simply means allowing the display to auto-adjust its contrast and brightness when used outdoor to maximize visibility. The display is also claimed to be fully laminated.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will be available in two variants, one with 2GB RAM/16GB storage combo and another in 3GB/32GB storage but are powered by the same 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor. Despite its very slim profile coming in at just 8.65mm at its thickest point and weighing only 164grams, the Redmi Note 3 houses a hefty 4000mAh battery. Xiaomi even claims that they have equipped this phone with fast charging tech that is capable of charging it up to 50% in just 60 minutes.
