Firefly Mobile GT100 SL Now with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and Cheaper

Remember the first Firefly Mobile GT100 S smartphone that was first released in June of this year and became one of Firefly's most-bought devices of the year? Well, that device just got a little better than it has been as our friend from was able to spot an enhanced version of it named GT100 SL.

This particular device is almost the same as the first version. Even the naming is not that far from the original where an "L" was just added, which I guess indicates Lollipop as its operating system. It's almost the same but there are very noticeable improvements and the price is much cheaper than the first one.

One of the upgrades is the OS which is now an Android 5.1 Lollipop, versus Android 4.4 Kitkat of the previous. Additionally, the Firefly Mobile GT100 SL now sports fast-charge technology even though it has less than 3000mAh battery pack. WiFi hotspot and Double Tap to Wake up seems to be new additions to the package. See more specs below.

Firefly Mobile GT100 SL specs:

  • 5-inch qHD IPS display
  • 960 x 540 resolution
  • Dragontrail Scratch Resistant Glass
  • 1.3GHz quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage
  • Supports microSD card
  • 8MP rear camera with BSI
  • 5MP front camera
  • Android 5.1 Lollipop
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS
  • WiFi HotSpot
  • Dual-SIM
  • 3G
  • HSPA+
  • Double Tap to Wake up
  • Fast Charge
  • 2400mAh Lithium-ion battery
  • Php3,299
The Firefly Mobile GT100 SL is now available at Firefly Mobile stores, or at least at the mall where GizGuide spotted the device (but was not mentioned), for a more affordable price of just Php3,299. That's a Php500 difference from the older brother. I think this is also available at other Firefly Mobile stores, as this is a common practice over at Firefly Mobile where they always do a soft release of a device before they officially announce it.

I will try to reach out to Firefly Mobile and see if we can get a confirmation of this smartphone's availability at all of their stores nationwide.
