The Asus ZenFone Zoom is Now Official and it's for Php26,995

Asus Philippines has officially launched the much awaited ZenFone Zoom in the local market through their media event recently held at the Marriott Hotel in Cebu. Asus brought both tech, lifestyle and travel bloggers alike to Cebu to witness the announcement and to test the phone's camera prowess through the Cebu's Sinulog 2016 celebration.

In case you don't know yet, the Asus ZenFone Zoom's highlight feature is its 13MP rear camera that is equipped with HOYA lens 3X Optical Zoom, hence the moniker. Optical Zoom technology is completely different than the normal digital zoom functionality that we use in our smartphones. To simply explain it, Optical Zoon allows the camera to zoom in on a subject without losing to much resolution or details. So if you like capturing photos or subjects in distance using a smartphone and want them to end up in still-extremely-well-detailed quality, ZenFone Zoom is the best candidate for you.

In addition to its 3X Optical Zoom, the camera also comes with Laser Autofocus which allows the phone to focus on a subject as fast as 0.03seconds ensuring a moment is never missed. Optical Image Stabilization is another camera feature this ZenFone has so even if you have a shakey hand or the situation makes capturing photos blurry, that's not going to be an issue with ZenFone Zoom.

For front-facing camera, users will have a 5MP shooter with 88-degree wide angle lens for a much bigger background when taking selfie photos with something or someone. If that's not enough, there is a built-in camera software called Panoramic Selfie.

On the front side is a big 5.5-inch Full HD display boasting a 1920x1080 resolution that's not just bright but also very clear in displaying content. The screen is protected by the most recent Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for scratch and shatter proof.

Powering the Asus ZenFone Zoom is a PC-grade 64-bit Intel Z3590 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, a quad-core. Lagging is definitely going to be a problem here on ZenFone Zoom as users will have a spacey 4GB of RAM, run multiple apps at once or do your very demanding tasks and ZenFone Zoom won't disappoint you.

At launch the Asus ZenFone Zoom runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, but an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow is definitely on the way for this beast as well. And then for the battery, a 3000mAh battery pack will keep everything up and running. This is a big battery that may require longer time to fully charge, however Asus has already stuffed this phone with their very own BoostMaster technology. BoostMaster is the fast charge that we know, and it allows the smartphone to charge from 0% to 60% in just 39 minutes.

However, there is still one more important detail that was not mentioned at the event, the availability date. If my guess is right, it will arrive in the shelves in about a week or two from today. Anyway we will be notified once this device comes out in the Philippines market. And when it does, it is going to be for Php26,995.
