The New Samsung Galaxy S7 to Debut on Feb 21

Rumors and unauthorized leaks about the new and upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone have been dominating the tech scene lately, based on the previous history of Samsung's flagship device, this is our queue that  #TheNextGalaxy device is just around the corner. And true enough, Samsung itself has started sending media invites out for its Unpacked event for this year's Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona. It is definitely for the official Samsung Galaxy S7 announcement, at least my expectation.

Samsung even released a teaser clip about the said 2016 Unpacked event where a guy is shown wearing a Gear VR headset and suggested that the new phone is to arrive on February 21, 2016. This could short clip could also mean that Samsung is to introduce more Virtual Reality-related features in the new Galaxy S7 device or perhaps a completely separate VR experience, and oh probably a hint that we can all watch the whole event live via Virtual Reality (360-degree) video format, who knows.

So what are the rumors and leaks talking about this seventh Galaxy S smartphone? First off, leaked images courtesy of Evan Blass aka Evleaks on Twitter. Evan posted a couple of unconfirmed images of the devices Samsung is to unveil, and like the last releases from the Korean electronics giant, there are two flagships to be announced based on the leak and that's the Galaxy S7 (standard flat screen) and the Galaxy S7 Edge (with extended curved screen on the edges, hence the name). According to rumors and speculations, it is said that Samsung is bringing back the microSD support with these new phones. That's nice to hear as a lot of Samsung fans and users were very disappointed when this particular feature was missing with last year's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Some even said that this external memory card support could be implemented by Samsung via the inclusion of hybrid dual-SIM tray where the slots can either hold a pair of SIM cards or one SIM and a microSD card on another, and up to 200GB. Whether this is true or not, we are still to find out on February 21.

Another thing I have heard from other bloggers is that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will feature a pressure-sensitive screen allowing the smartphones to execute more diverse functionalities based on how soft and how hard of a pressure a user puts against the screen, yeah a similar functionality Apple introduced with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus called 3D Touch.

Waterproof certification and removable battery are also some of things many websites are talking about that Samsung is to resurrect with this new flagship devices.

I just can't wait to see which of these rumors are correct and which are not. We will definitely know for sure in three weeks time and hopefully it won't take too much time before hitting the Philippines, so stay tuned.
