Asus Zenfone 3 Max and Zenfone 3 Laser Announced

Zenfans in the Philippines will not be able to get their hands on the newest Zenfone 3 smartphones at least until August 14, however the Zenfone 3 family of smartphones has just got a little bigger as Asus recently officially unveiled two new of its members in Vietnam - Zenfone 3 Max and Zenfone 3 Laser. Thanks to a post from which is a tech blog in Vietnamese as they put up an article about these new devices with photos of the two phones and some specs right from the Aus event in Vietnam.

With the success of the Zenfone 2 series last year, and how Asus capitalized on its success like releasing different variants of Zenfone smartphones catering to different users' needs, it's sort of expected from Asus to also release direct follow ups to last year's Zenfone 2 handsets. So here they are, Zenfone 3 Laser and Zenfone 3 Max already in Vietnam as of this very moment.

Asus Zenfone 3 Laser specs:
  • 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display
  • 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 2.5D Curved Glass
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 4
  • Octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor
  • Adreno 505 GPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • Supports microSD card
  • 13MP rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor and Laser Autofocus
  • 8MP front camera
  • Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS
  • Dual-SIM
  • 3G
  • LTE
  • Fingerprint Scanner
  • 3000mAh battery
  • 5,990,000 VND (Php12,500)
The Asus Zenfone 3 Laser is a direct installment to last year's Zenfone 2 Laser. As you can see in the list of specs above, clearly it received huge updates for this year's iteration. And the design is also aligned with the first Zenfone 3 devices, which is pretty nice.

Next is the Asus Zenfone 3 Max, and like its predecessor, it focuses on providing longer battery life and works as a powerbank too to other devices. However, this time its screen size is a little bit smaller than previous generation. Coming in at just 5.2 inches with the same HD resolution. That's about the same size as the standard Zenfone 3. RAM and internal storage have been upgraded and processor is now powered by MediaTek and no longer Qualcomm Snapdragon 410. And even the battery capacity has just been downsized to just 4,100mAh, versus to last year's 5,000mAh.

Now that the Asus Zenfone 3 Max sports a more enhanced specs, latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow,  bigger RAM, I just hope that the experience will top the original Zenfone Max. I have this 5000mAh-equipped Zenfone which I got back in January of this year when it was locally launched, I am very happy with its performance as it is able to deliver its promise of long lasting battery life and a pretty good performance.

Asus Zenfone 3 Max specs:
  • 5.2-inch HD IPS Display
  • 2.5D Curved Glass
  • 1280 x 720 resolution
  • Quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB Internal storage
  • Supports microSD card
  • 13MP rear camera
  • 5MP front camera
  • Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS
  • Dual-SIM
  • LTE
  • 3G
  • Fingerprint Scanner
  • 4,100mAh battery
  • 4,490,000 VND (Php9,400)
Like the other Zenfone 3 phones, these two new members are also equipped with Fingerprint Scanner feature. According to the reports and experience from other bloggers who were able to try the smartphones at the launch venues, the sensor responds pretty fast in terms of unlocking device. And most of all, now in metal casing. I can't wait to anymore to have any of these Zenfone 3 devices in my hand and feel how premium and solid they are in real life.

The Zenvolution event in the Philippines is now officially set to happen on August 14. Asus Philippines is to formally launch the Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Deluxe, and Zenfone 3 Ultra smartphones as well as ZenBook 3 and new generation of Transformer laptops. And with what happened in Vietnam, we are now also expecting Asus to unveil the Zenfone 3 Max and Zenfone 3 Laser in the local market. And last but not least, since Asus has made it official the existence of these Max and Laser variants, I think it is just a matter of time before we can also hear about the Zenfone 3 Selfie smartphone even though we have not heard even a word about it so far.
