Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Rumored Specs and Features So Far

As of this very moment, it is official that the next iOS smartphones are to formally unveil on the 7th of September 2016 in the US. That's according to the event invitation that Apple had sent to the media and bloggers. While we approach the date, rumors and unconfirmed information keep on flooding the internet that come from different sources across the globe. So far, most of these rumors are believable as some of them came out with photos supporting the speculation. Of course nothing is official yet until Apple makes the announcement, hence let's take everything here with a grain of salt. So what those leaked information so far are? Let's see below.

Leaks suggest that we won't be seeing so much new in terms of looks in the upcoming iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Pretty much the two iOS smartphones will sport the same design as seen in last year's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

The only differences will be the repositioning of the antenna lines, dual-camera lens for the iPhone 7 Plus, new color variants and the removal of the 3.5mm jack at the bottom. We have seen countless leaked photos of the alleged iPhone 7and 7 Plus casings and all of them are pretty consistent when it comes to the design department of it. If you Google it, you will have plenty of sites to choose from and see it.

Color options

In addition to the existing Rose Gold, Gold and Silver, rumors are also suggesting that two more new shades are coming to the menu. The Space Gray will be replaced by a Black variant, will probably be called Space Black and another Black variant with glossy finish. If these new blacks are true, then this is most likely to be the first to sold out. Usually with iPhones, the newer the color is the more likely it sells out faster than the other colors. And even myself, I really like the idea of a black iPhone, as in all black.

No more 3.5mm jack

This is one of the biggest rumors surrounding the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. That Apple is to officially get rid of the 3.5mm jack port and this is to achieve an even thinner profile and use the extra inside space for an additional functionality in the phone like upgrading the pressure sensitivity of the screen. So how do we listen to audio aside from the built-in speakers then? Again, rumors say that Apple will include a Lightning Adaptor to come with the usual EarPods in the packaging. In fact, someone posted a leaked photo of the said adaptor online and from the looks of it in the image, not exciting. However, some people are quite happy to hear about this particular report. And you know, wireless earphones are inevitable. Have you heard about the rumored AirPods that Apple allegedly patented.

They might actually be called iPhone 6 SE and iPhone 6 SE Plus

This one may sound unrealistic, but if we take a second look, it may be believable though.  First is, Apple is known to refreshing their iPhone designs every two years. For example iPhone 4 and 4S, iPhone 5 and 5S. We already had iPhone 6 and 6 Plus two years ago and iPhone 6s and 6s Plus last year, and if the trend is to be followed, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus should sport a completely new aesthetics, but all leaks and rumors are pointing to the sale iPhone 6 and 6s route, plus iPhone SE debuted in March of this year. Second is, next year is iPhone's 10th anniversary and some insiders are suggesting that Apple is reserving the new design for 2017 along with some other new innovations and then call the new 10th-year iPhones as 7 and 7 Plus. In 2017 models, it is reported that Apple will completely removing the physical home button and will just go full touch-screen on the front panel, like the home key will be on-screen this time. Additionally, Apple is said to adapt the all-glass casing, meaning front and back faces will sport glass like many other Android flagships of today.

However, for now, tech sites and enthusiasts are referring to the upcoming iPhones as iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Who knows maybe Apple will just call next year's iPhones as 8 and 8 Plus.

Image quality is one of the most sold features of the iPhone devices. Camera on these new phones, as per unofficial reports, is believed to remain at 12MP each with a few enhancements and additions. the biggest star in the camera section of this year's iPhone is the implementation of dual-camera on the back of the bigger iPhone 7 Plus. Dual-camera feature is not a unique feature in case you are not aware, it has been seen in recent phones of Starmobile and of course in Huawei's P9 and P9 Plus. But it is Apple, so the hype is still expected.

It is reported that the iPhone 7 Plus will have dual-camera on the back, both shooters will have 12MP resolution. The first one will be a standard camera and the second will be shooting photos in monochrome (black and white) which will help the lens to capture more details for the image. This will also give way to users to be able to refocus in the image even if the photo has been taken and also to add more depth in the Bokeh effect when capturing images. If you check the invitation image again posted above, you will somehow notice that Bokeh effect being teased.

Screen size and resolution

The iPhone 7 will still have 4.7-inch display with resolution of 1334 x 750 while the bigger 7 Plus is said to have the same 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) Display.

Apple is also expected to introduce an updared A10 processor to come in these smartphones as well as an M10 co-motion processor. Memory wise, the iPhone 7 will have 2GB RAM and the larger a much roomy 3GB of RAM this is to accommodate the dual-camera power. As for the storage, 32GB will be the base variant and will go as high as 256GB.
