Latest Samsung Galaxy S8 Render Shown by UAG Case Maker

Unfortunately Samsung Electronics won't be announcing a brand new flagship smartphone at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and that the follow up to last year's Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be delayed for a few weeks this time around. This is to make sure, according to Samsung, that the much talked about Galaxy S8 will not suffer the same fate as the Note 7. And while we won't be officially witnessing this upcoming Samsung flagship smartphone at least in the next two weeks, leaks and rumors surrounding this device just keep on coming by the minute. One of those is coming from Urban Armor Gear (UAG), an Australia-based case manufacturer.

The image above, which shows a render of the yet-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy S8, was revealed by UAG together with its launching of their new smartphone case offerings for the same device. When these cases were listed on their website, all were available for pre-order, however when I checked the webpage for these items, looks like it was turned down for the moment. Good thing is, the said page is still accessible via Google Cache, thanks to for the tip.

Although this is not the actual Samsung Galaxy S8 (or is it?) design we are looking at, there are a few major things that these images seem to confirm based on the rumors and leaks about this latest generation of Galaxy S smartphone that have been around since a couple of months ago. One of those, and the biggest one, is the lack of physical home button that usually sits right below the screen. Samsung is said to be ditching the home button off the front panel in order to accommodate more space for the display, which is exactly the case for this leaked image. The screen has been extended down below and for the remaining panel, a Samsung branding is seen instead. Second is of course the screen. As you can see in the images, the phone now sports a much bigger display and both sides now have curved screen. To be honest, I find the smartphone in this image to be so beautiful and sleek. If this is the actual Galaxy S8 Samsung is preparing to launch soon, then I am sold for this.

Next there is as well the Iris Scanner which is found at the top portion of the front panel together with some other sensors and front camera. Going back to the home button, you might be wondering that if there was no hone button anymore, could this mean there's no fingerprint scanner as well? The answer is no of course. In the early days of Galaxy S8 rumors, it was said that Samsung might just embed the fingerprint scanner into the display panel somewhere at the lower part of the screen. However, recent leaks have debunked that speculation, instead Samsung will have the fingerprint scanner moved to the rear panel near the main camera, which makes a little more sense since the Galaxy S8 (and the S8 Plus) is expected to be relatively larger than its predecessor, these images (and some others from different sources) have just confirmed that.

In addition to the existence of the fingerprint scanner on the back, the volume rocker and power key are still present here and are situated on the left side of the phone. However, there is one more member, on the other side of the device. This new physical button is the reported dedicated button for Bixby, Samsung's AI assistant for its users.

Since nothing is definitely confirmed and official yet about Samsung's new flagship device, so let's take it with a grain of salt. However, if we take a look back at the rumors of the previous Samsung flagship devices, most of them were found to be accurate when the devices were finally revealed. Samsung is expected to unveil the next Galaxy S smartphone (s) later in March.
