Smart Mastercard Card Powered by PayMaya Now Available, Learn More Here

A few months ago, Smart Communications Inc and PayMaya forged partnership and launched the Smart Mastercard. It is a virtual prepaid credit card that Smart, TNT or Sun Cellular users can use to make purchases online, buy discounted prepaid loads within the app, pay bills, get exclusive deals and perks from Smart  and so much more. However when it was launched in November of 2016, only the virtual credit card in the PayMaya app was only available but promised that a physical card would follow suit. Fast forward to March 2017, it is now here.

Smart Communications Inc, through their Facebook page, announced that the physical card for Smart Mastercard is now available for purchase at select Smart Wireless Centers and from their online store. And as you can see in the promotional image above posted by Smart, the card will only cost you Php150. This is now the new prepaid Mastercard Smart is offering after officially discontinuing the much loved Smartmoney card. You read that right, Smartmoney card is now a thing of the past since December 31, 2016. To know more about that particular update, you may just click on the provided link above.

So what happens after you get your card?

For you to be able to start using this card, you have to link it first to a PayMaya Smart Mastercard account. If you don't have PayMaya account yet, just create a new one by first downloading the app from Google Play or the AppStore for free. Once downloaded you can start registering for an account. It is important to note that you will need to register using a Smart, TNT or Sun mobile number in order to get the Smart Mastercard virtual account from PayMaya. You can also register using other mobile numbers from other network but instead you will get a regular PayMaya VISA account, NOT the Smart Mastercard one.

After successful registration, you will know your account is now activated because you will be sent an SMS notification, just log in with the mobile number you used and with the password you created during the process of signing up. Now to fully activate the Smart Mastercard card, you have to link it to your account in the PayMaya app. To link, simply go to the menu from the homescreen and select My Cards, and then just simply follow the onscreen instructions to finish the process.

Top up your account

As soon as the linking process is done, all you have to do next is load up your account through these partners and top up centers across the country. Once loaded, then you can now use the Smart Mastercard for making transactions online, or using it at stores and establishments anywhere in the world that accept Mastercard as payment method. You can also pay bills within the app, or buy prepaid loads at discounted prices for Smart users.

Withdraw from ATMs and transfer funds to other PayMaya accounts

Additional things you can do with this Smart Mastercard account is withdraw funds through ATM machines and transfer money to other PayMaya users. However, this requires upgrading your PayMaya account which is you can definitely do and it costs nothing. The upgrade can be done within the app under the menu.

Is Smart Mastercard Compatible with PayPal?

Now that Smartmoney card is no longer being offered and now being replaced with this, I think your next question will be if this is going to work with PayPal. The answer is definitely yes since it just works the same way as the Smartmoney. In fact PayMaya and PayPal have already partnered together to make sure that funds between them can be moved smoothly for a minimal fee.
