JBL Everest Elite 700 Unboxing and Quick Hands-on Review

When it comes to Bluetooth audio accessory, JBL has been one of my go-to brands. In fact JBL is the first speaker maker I have ever tried outside of the default earphones and headsets included in all gadgets I have ever bought or reviewed. That first time was actually unforgettable as the audio quality was superb, detail rich, and almost perfectly fit to my liking. And that's why every time I get the chance to try to use or get one of these speakers from JBL, I always get excited. For this JBL Everest Elite 700 Bluetooth headset? The excitement remains the same.

The Box and Packaging
The JBL Everest Elite 700 headphones comes in a rather premium box, one that you would expect from a premium device like this which will immediately give you the initial impressions that you are about to have your hands on one of the best premium headsets around. The overall packaging is great. it doesn't just give the outside presentation a more appealing looks but also give the headsets and its accessories inside an added protection from the outside force that may hit its surface. Also it gives buyers upfront specs and feature information about the product. Below are some of the key details we can find on the back of the box.

  • Bluetooth 4.0 enables a wireless connection
  • Legendary JBL pro audio sound for a dynamic audio experience
  • Built in audio off sensors preserve battery life
  • Sculpted ear cushions provide unprecedented fit and comfort
  • 15 hour rechargeable battery
  • NXTGen Technology: Immersive noise-cancelling performance plus control the level of outside noise

  • Built in mic with echo cancellation
What's in the Box

The first thing to greet you is of course the headphones itself, nicely placed in its own little box inside.

You can lift this part of the box to reveal the rest of the accessories found underneath it.

These are what you get out of the box for every purchase of the headphones. Complete with accessories and and some paperwork for future reference.

UBS to MicroUSB charging cable.

This is the 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio jack cable. You can use this if you would like to use the headphones physically connected to your device or in case you have run out of battery from listening to music through Bluetooth functionality.

Some warranty and user manual guide documentations to give you additional information and key details you would to know before using the device. This JBL Everest Elite 700 also comes with a companion app which enables you to play around with the audio settings, create your own mix, or simply adjust some audio features to your preferences. The My JBL Headphones app is available both for Android and iOS users, so compatibility won't be an issue.

What's more special about the packaging is that it is pre-loaded with a JBL customized pouch for the Everest Elite 700. This is perfect for keeping the unit inside if not in use or whenever you would like to bring the headsets with you on the go. You may wonder how's that going to fit the headset, check images below to know the answer.

Problem solved! haha. I brought this unit once to the office using the pouch of course and I found it to be very useful and sleek. Once it's in the bag, I didn't have to worry having this headphones messed up with other stuff I have in their such as quite hard or sharp objects that might scratch the unit or getting entangled with other cables I brought with me.

The JBL Everest Elite 700

Being a Bluetooth wireless headphones, all controls and physical buttons are found on the unit self. Two on each side as you can see in the image above. On the right are the power button (above) and then the other one below is the smart button which allows you to adjust the noise cancelling feature from High or Low down to Disabled. You will hear a quick female-voiced soft whisper everytime you click it. Then on the left are the volume up and down, plus there is another clickable button right in between. That is for pause/play on audio or for answering incoming calls.

Just like many other headphones, the JBL Everest Elite 700's headband is also adjustable making it compatible and wearable with almost every head shape and size. The extensions are made of metal and the headband itself is so durable and stretchable, you won't have to worry breaking it or getting the entire headphones becoming out of angle in the long run.

Further more at the bottom are the location of the microUSB port for charging the headphones and the 2.5mm jack port for wired listening.

Final Thoughts

I was able to use this JBL Everest Elite 700 headphones for a couple of days. I even had it one time on my head for almost the entire duration of my shift at work listening to music, podcasts, and watching talks on YouTube. And unlike any other headsets I tried, this one did not make me uncomfortable wearing it for that long, thanks to the not so tight grip of the headsets itself and the cushions on each of the earcups. Of course I had to take them off my head for my ears to breathe a little every couple of hours, but the overall experience was wonderful.

The Noise Cancellation feature, this is a particular feature of headphones in general I don't really buy though I can definitely say that it works here. Not much of a difference though cause I believe the entire design of the headsets helped a lot in eliminating those outside noise, but I was able to tell the difference between switching on and off the noise cancellation thing.

Sound quality is also superb, maybe because I am a JBL fan, but to my liking this one is really really good. Default audio settings are already good to my ears, I can absolutely survive without using the My JBL Headphones companion app. But of course it is good to know that the app is there available whenever I feel like playing around with the settings depending on what type of content I am consuming.

And yeah I almost forgot, the battery life. JBL claims to last it up to 15 hours of audio playback on a single charge. I was not able to count the up time, unfortunately, but at one point I used the device for almost two days without recharging. Plus the chargetime seems very fast as well.

If there is one thing I don't like about this headphones, it's the size of the earcups or the cushions on them. The inside seemed to be a bit small for my ears' size. My entire ears are not covered and some parts of it would be on the cushions itself, and yes that's not so good though. If it was a little bigger, I think it would be more perfect.
