Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with Dual Camera is Now Officially Announced

As usual, a ton of leaks and rumors were accurate about the super newly-announced Galaxy Note 8 smartphone by Samsung. The Korean electronics giant has officially launched its next gen Galaxy Note device at an Unpacked 2017 event in New York in the morning of August 23, 2017. And yes it sports that same Infinity Display technology first found on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones, and most of all, yes it packs dual camera set up on its back sitting side by side with the LED flash and the still-awkwardly placed Fingerprint Scanner.

In case you are still wondering, yes this Galaxy Note 8 is the very first Samsung-made smartphone to join the dual camera race. On the back are the two 12MP cameras sitting next to each other and both of them have OIS or Optical Image Stabilization for less shakey videos and images. The primary 12MP shooter is equipped with f/1.2 aperture while the secondary 12MP telephoto lens has F/2.4 aperture and up to 2x zoom functionality. On front is an 8MP camera with f/1.7 lens. On paper, that's a pretty impressive camera configuration.

As mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has the same InfinityDisplay technology first seen on Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. However, upon first look it is easily identifiable from the S8 devices, and that's because the display looks more squarish than those of S8's, that's on top of the Note 8 being a lot bigger of a phone. Infinity Display, in case you are still not familiar with, is simply a term created by Samsung referring to the smartphone's almost bezel-less and edge-to-edge display design.

Speaking of size and display, the Note 8 is pegged with a huge 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. In terms of screen-to-body ratio, that would be 83%, and QHD+ is equivalent to 2960 x 1440 resolution. Both front and back panels are glass-clad. In fact the overall design of the Galaxy Note 8 is very similar to last year's Galaxy Note 7, except for the screen is a lot wider and bezels are extremely tiny from all sides.

Powering the Note 8, depending on the region, is either a Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 of which both are octa-core chips. Paired with these latest processors are massive 6GB of RAM. Storage wise, there is only one option and it's a 64GB one. This can be expanded via microSD card using the SIM 2 slot for up to 256GB.

It is also good to note that this smartphone is IP68 certified (water and dust resistant) both the device itself and the S-Pen. The S-Pen, which is the very unique feature and offering of the Galaxy Note 8 is of course returning with the Note 8 and is now a lot enhanced has new features and functionalities to offer.

In terms of security features, all the usual pattern, code are present on the device as well as the high-end ones such as fingerprint scanner, iris scanner, and face recognition are all embedded inside the Note 8.

If there is one thing to be disappointed about the Galaxy Note 8, in addition to the fingeprint scanner placement, that would be the battery which is only at 3300mAh. The battery life remains to be tested when the reviews start to come out. The battery or the device all support wire and wireless charging as well as fast charging tech.
