Nokia 7 Now Made Official in China

Another Nokia branded smartphone has just been made official by HMD Global through the Chinese market today. The device is called Nokia 7. By its name, the new handset will fill the void between the Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 both in terms of specs and price point.

The Nokia 7 will be available in two configurations, one in 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and another in 6GB RAM paired with 128GB storage capacity. Both support microSD card for expansion.  HMD Global says this device is "wrapped in 7000 series aluminum chassis with diamond cut bevelled edges, and 3D glass curvature glass." By the looks of the handset in the press image above, Nokia 7 looks to be sleek and premium.

The phone is equipped with 5.2-inch IPS display panel with Full HD resolution slapped with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for added protection. Right underneath it is an octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor from Qualcomm. The Nokia  7 will be running on Android 7.1 Nougat right out of the box, but the company confirmed that an Android Oreo update will be coming as well in the future.

HMD Global also mentioned the phone's "Bothie" camera functionality. This allows the phone to capture photos and videos using both the front and rear cameras as well as combining them into a single image at the same time. I have not tried this particular feature yet, so I guess it is pretty interesting to see how this thing works in reality.

Speaking of cameras, the Nokia 7 will sport 16MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and dual tone LED flash while the front shooter will be at 5MP accompanied by an f/2.0 aperture lens. There is no dual camera set up found here, but that does not mean the camera quality is not good. We'll have to see this phone in action before we can decide.
