OPPO F5 Will Be Launched on Oct 26 in the Philippines

We really didn't know that OPPO was about to launch a brand new installment to its ever successful F series of selfie centric smartphones in the Philippines until a few weeks ago when local celebrities like Julia Barretto posted quick unboxing of this unnamed device on her instagram account. And then couple of days followed when we learned, though unofficially, that this phone would be called F5 (or F5 Plus if a bigger variant is still a thing) and that it would sport the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio for its display. In fact banners have been spotted in various major shopping malls in the country showing Alden Richards and Sarah Geronimo holding the device with caption that says "F5 Capture the Real You".

Fast forward to today, the Chinese electronics giant has already confirmed a couple of things surrounding this handset through media invites they have sent to bloggers and news outfit. First off, is that they will officially launch the F5 on October 26 not just in the Philippines but also in other Asian markets like India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

While the information about the OPPO F5 smartphone is extremely limited at the moment, it is already confirmed that the company will equip this device with a Full HD+ resolution which is equivalent to 2160 x 1080 pixel arrangement. That type of resolution is for devices with 18:9 aspect ratio such as the new Huawei Nova 2i, and LG Q6 lineup. This is the very first OPPO device to sport this particular feature and it also appear to sport almost zero-bezel front panel similar to what we see in the competition.

Another confirmed feature of the OPPO F5 is what the company is calling the "AI Beauty Recognition Technology". This will be enabling the phone to enhance even more its "Selfie Expert" experience being to provided to its massive user base. This feature will basically use artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning to improve one's selfie photos as they use the phone more and more. It is really an interesting feature to see on a smartphone like this, and I am one of those enthusiasts who is excited to see how this thing will work in the real world. If I remember it right, no other smartphone maker has ever included this kind of feature on their offerings so far, so if this is not just a gimmick, OPPO is really doing some innovation right here.

Stay tuned for more details about this device especially about its official local pricing.
