My Only Question Right After Seeing Deadpool 2

In the Philippines, Deadpool 2 officially hit local cinemas on May 16. Being one of my most awaited films of 2018, I made sure to catch it as soon as possible, with that I meant on its first day. So I did try watch it after my work for that day and thankfully I really was able to.

Overall, I really did enjoy Deadpool 2. I think it is, at least, twice as fun and hilarious as the first Deadpool movie two years ago. One liner jokes and references to other movies simply made me crack up all the time. NOTE: The end credits clip is super crazy, you don't wanna miss that.

And like any other movies I have ever seen, whether great or worst ones, questions and a bit of confusions are also spotted in Deadpool 2. And I think with this latest Merc with a Mouth movie installment, my biggest question is about Cable's time travelling stuff.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Cable, played by Josh Brolin (the same guy who incredibly played Thanos in the Avengers Infinity War), was from the future. In his time, Cable's wife and daughter were killed by Firefist, the entire house was burned down together with his family. Now he went back in time in order to prevent a then young mutant Russel Collins aka Firefist from being the murderous villain of his time in the future and killing his family. In short, Cable wanted to kill a kid named Russel Collins in the present time. By the time he arrived in the present day with Deadpool and Russel Collins (who were currently in prison cell for mutants called IceBox), the two had already made friends with each other but Russel still showed attitudes of being wanting to be a villain which was the result of the abusive experiences he had from an orphanage he grew up which labeled as a "Mutant Reeducation Center".

NOW HERE IS MY QUESTION

While being able to "fix the future" and save his family back home without killing Russel, thanks to Deadpool's sacrifice, Cable decided to stay in the present time and make sure that humanity doesn't blow itself up, or something like that. Also part of his decision was he no longer had enough power in his time travelling gadget of some sort in order to jump back to the future because he used its last charge to go back a few minutes back to save Deadpool from dying due to his sacrifice for Russel.

Now at this point, we definitely know that the future is now okay and that Cable's family is saved and alive and well. For those who have seen it, it's the teddy bear doll that Cable brought with him was our queue that everything went well. The doll was previously half roasted when Cable arrived due to fire and explosion caused by the future Firefirst in killing his family in his own house.

Movies with time travelling plot is quite of a complex stuff to explore both for viewers and creators. With Deadpool 2, applying the recent or should I say the most common understanding we have about time travelling and seeing that Cable's teddy bear transformed into its former state before the killing which let us know that he was able to fix the timeline, how come he did not just disappear from the present day?

You know, if Cable fixed everything, meaning his family back in the future were never killed in the result, then he would not have needed to go back in time to fix it, right?. Thus his existence in the past would have never occurred at this point. And yet he managed and even decided to stay around with Deadpool and the gang.

Unless I am missing something in the universe of this Deadpool franchise, I cannot understand why this is the case with Cable's time travelling plot. Or unless the multiple universe or timeline theory is applied here, which either never is the case so far, I guess I will need to see a lot of Deadpool 2 spoiler reviews on the web, especially on YouTube once they are up to see what actually is going on here. Or if you do know, please don't hesitate to share it in the comments below.
