Notch-Free OPPO F7 Youth Now Officially Launched in the Philippines

As previously teased, OPPO Philippines has officially launched its newest F7 variant in the local market. The said device, in case you missed it, is formally called the OPP F7 Youth. If you are already familiar with the original OPPO F7 model which was released locally earlier in April and received a tremendous success selling over 37,000 units on first day of launch alone, this is basically a slightly watered version of that phone, minus the notch as well. So if you really liked the first F7 but not its notch on the screen, this F7 Youth might be the next best choice for you.

OPPO F7 vs F7 Youth: What remains?

First and foremost, that would be its processor chip embedded right into its heart. It is the same MediaTek Helio P60 processor found on the F7 Youth clocked at the same  2.0GHz with a total of eight cores. perfect for heavy tasks as well as gaming needs. Even the random access memory or RAM and internal storage remain the same on this one pegged at 4GB and 64GB, receptively. Users can still use a microSD card on this phone through its dedicated slot with up to 256GB in size.

The operating system or software version remains the same on the OPPO F7 Youth at Android 8.1 Oreo with the company's own ColorOS 5.0 user interface on top.

It will still be available in Solar Red color option just like the base F7 model.

OPPO F7 vs F7 Youth: What changes?

One of the most notable changes found on the F7 Youth is the notch. That is right, for some reason OPPO decided to do away with the notch on this one. So for users or interested buyers who are not fans of the notch going on right now in many smartphones especially in the midrange category, you might really like this one. That being said, the aspect ratio on this phone is also different. From 19:9, the F7 Youth has 18:9 ratio. And while that changes, and the screen size's going down from 6.3-inch to 6-inch, though not really of a big deal at all, the resolution is still the same at Full HD+, which is great.

Another noticeable changes on the OPPO F7 Youth is in the camera department. For the front shooter, it has been trimmed down from the massive 25MP to just 8MP. AI Beautification and AR stickers still present though. The rear camera also received a downgrade, but a minor one. It is now pegged at 13MP with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash versus F7's 16MP and a wider f/1.8 aperture.

Fingerprint scanner is missing in the party. This is kind of sad actually, as many users who have now been used to using their prints in unlocking their phones. Really wished OPPO kept this one here. So instead of that, users will have to stick with the face unlock feature or the traditional pattern or passcode.

The battery, this time around, received a tiny upgrade. From 3400mAh, it is now at 3410mAh.

In addition to the same Solar Red color variant, Diamond Black is also a new option here.
